Goat Oregano

Botanical Overview

Goat Oregano (Satureja thymbra) belongs to the Lamiaceae family. Limited but reliable traditional records indicate this plant has recognized medicinal applications in one or more healing traditions. The mint family (Lamiaceae) includes aromatic herbs and shrubs with square stems, opposite leaves, and two-lipped flowers. General Description

It is noted for its dark-green leaves, which grow on numerous, closely compacted branches, reaching a height of 20–50 centimetres (8–19+1⁄2 in). Pink to purple flowers blossom between March and June. It is native to southeastern Europe and Libya, Africa.
