Botanical Overview

Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) is a flowering plant in the Ranunculaceae family. Traditional medicine systems have documented several valuable applications for this species, supported by its observed therapeutic effects. The buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) includes herbs with alternate or basal leaves and showy flowers with numerous stamens and pistils.
