Bartonella henselae is the etiologic agent of cat scratch disease (CSD). 90% of patients present with regional lymphadenitis (typical CSD) while 10% will have disease involving other organs, such as neuroretinitis, arthropathy, erythema nodosum, and encephalitis (atypical CSD).
