Explanation
Samsarjana Krama is a specific dietary regimen followed after a major Shodhana procedure like Vamana or Virechana. The digestive fire (Agni) becomes very weak after detoxification, similar to a fire after being doused with water. This regimen gradually reintroduces food, starting with thin rice gruel (Peya), then thicker gruel (Vilepi), then soupy lentils (Yusha), and finally normal food, to safely rekindle the Agni.
Clinical Importance
This post-therapy diet is as important as the main procedure itself. Improperly following Samsarjana Krama can lead to severe indigestion and other complications, nullifying the benefits of the detox.
