Explanation

Lekhana is a scraping or emaciating therapy. Its action is to scrape away excess or abnormal tissues (Dhatus) and toxins (Malas) from the channels (Srotas). It is a more intense form of Rukshana. Substances that are dry, rough, light, and sharp, like honey, warm water, and Guggulu, have a Lekhana effect.

Clinical Importance

This therapy is specifically indicated for conditions like obesity (Sthaulya), high cholesterol, tumors, and deep-seated Kapha accumulations. It is a powerful method for clearing blockages in the channels.
