Explanation

Brimhana is nourishing or building therapy, one of the Shad-Upakrama. Its action is to increase and nourish the body tissues (Dhatus), promoting bulk and strength. It has qualities opposite to Langhana (lightening therapy). Substances that are heavy (Guru), oily (Snigdha), and sweet (Madhura) like ghee, meat soup, and milk are typically Brimhana.

Clinical Importance

This therapy is indicated for conditions of emaciation (Karshya), debility, convalescence, and Vata-dominant disorders. It is the primary method for treating Dhatu Kshaya (tissue depletion).
