Explanation
These are two types of ocular therapies. Aschotana is the administration of medicated liquid drops into the eyes from a specific height. Anjana is the application of medicated collyrium or paste to the inner lining of the eyelids. These are used to treat various eye diseases.
Clinical Importance
These local treatments are fundamental to Ayurvedic ophthalmology (Shalakya Tantra). Anjana, in particular, is also recommended as a daily routine (Dinacharya) to protect the eyes and enhance vision.
