Sanskrit Verse

अपानोऽपानगः श्रोणिबस्तिमेढ्रोरुगोचरः। शुक्रार्तवशकृन्मूत्रगर्भनिष्क्रमणक्रियः॥

Explanation

Apana Vayu is located in the lower pelvic region (Apana-gah) and moves in the area of the colon, bladder, and reproductive organs. It is responsible for the downward expulsion of feces (Shakrit), urine (Mutra), semen (Shukra), menstrual fluid (Artava), and the fetus during childbirth (Garbha).

Clinical Importance

Apana Vayu governs all elimination and reproductive functions. Its imbalance is the root cause of constipation, urinary disorders, menstrual problems, and sexual dysfunction. Treatments like Basti (enema) are specifically used to correct Apana Vayu.
